He started at center back in France’s final European Cup preparation game against Canada. Canada international Moise Bambito is set to make a long-term return to France. According to Canadian media, OGC Nice selected him to replace Jean-Claire Todibo who left for West Ham United.

In a twist of events, the Colorado Rapids defender (who has played 18 games and scored two goals this season) should sign a four-season deal at the Coliseum. Excluding bonuses, the transfer value is expected to be approximately 7 million euros.

The Canadian international (12 caps) will play in Europe for the first time after playing mainly in Major League Soccer (MLS).

He shouldn’t be the only backup. While Yusuf Ndayishimiye’s case raises concerns about his relapse and fitness (he is far from his ideal weight), the gym is looking at signing a second new player in the Midlands who could be Egypt international from Ahli Mohamed Abdelmonem.

The 25-year-old Zagazig native, who impressed at the 2021 World Cup in Canada and is regarded as the best defender in his country, wants to join and has been preparing on the club’s sidelines for weeks.

His price tag (€4-5 million) could convince Nice to trust him, although there are questions about his ability to adapt to the demands of European football. The two clubs still need to agree on the terms of the transfer, with Ahly hoping to receive a cash payment if Stadium wants to split the transfer fee. Too expensive, Maxence Lacroix files were abandoned by Nice staff.
