Delhi: Canada has demanded to question the diplomatic officials in the murder of pro-Khalistan leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Canada has formed a special team to investigate. Canada also demanded that the team should be allowed to come to India and conduct investigations if necessary.

Canada put forward this demand in informal talks. But India is taking a tough stance that it will not accept an investigation without any evidence. The United States has repeatedly demanded India’s cooperation in the investigation into Niger’s murder.

Matthew Miller, the spokesperson of the United States, came out in support of Canada. Meanwhile, Mathew Miller stated that the Canada issue was not discussed in the meeting of the Quad leaders held the other day. Mathew Miller’s response to this issue was that it was not a bilateral meeting but a meeting of the Quad members.

Earlier in the UN General Assembly, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar gave an indirect reply to Canada. Jaishankar had said that he respects the sovereignty of all countries, but countries should not interfere in the internal affairs of other countries. The Indian Foreign Minister’s speech indirectly criticized Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s political interests as being behind the India-Canada diplomatic row.
