She said in a statement that in addition to the 16 confirmed cases previously reported in Quebec, there are now 26 in Canada, of which 25 have been identified in Quebec and one in Ontario.

According to PHAC, it is likely that more cases will be reported in the coming days as PHAC’s National Microbiology Laboratory continues to receive samples for confirmatory testing from multiple jurisdictions.

Human cases of monkeypox have recently been reported in more than 20 countries around the world.
