Canada confirmed “Monkey smallpox patients” accumulated 1,379 cases.

OTTAWA, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) — Health Canada (PHAC) on Wednesday confirmed a total of 1,379 monkey pox cases in the country, including those who entered the country. 38 hospitalized

The bureau said the total number of confirmed cases was 667 from Ontario, 515 from Quebec, 150 from British Columbia, 39 from Alberta, and three from Saskatchewan. Two Yukon borders, one each in Nova Scotia, Manitoba and New Brunswick.

Several Canadian states are pending recommendations from the National Advisory Committee on Immunization. Should a second-dose vaccination strategy be initiated and how? Which is expected in the next few weeks.

Experts say monkey pox is a viral infection that can spread from person to person through close contact with an infected person. This includes hugging, kissing, massage, or sex.
