Police have shot dead two suspects in a bank robbery in Canada. Six officers were injured in the exchange of fire in the city of Saanich in the west of the country, the police said on Tuesday. According to the information, no customers or employees of the bank were injured.

Two gunmen robbed the bank in Saanich, British Columbia, on Tuesday morning. “Several officers rushed to the scene and found the armed suspects who were shooting at the police,” the police said. “Two suspects were shot dead by police and died at the scene.” Three of the injured officers required surgery and were in noisy condition «CBC News» in critical condition.

Hours following the deadly bank robbery, the police are still on site. There is a suspicion that there is a bomb in a car. The car is said to belong to the suspects.

In the meantime, the police were looking for a possible third perpetrator. The authorities later said, however, that ultimately there was no evidence that a third perpetrator was involved. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said he was “shocked” by the “violence in Saanich” on Twitter and expressed his support for the injured police officers.
