(CNN) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he “would not agree to give up any Ukrainian territory in a possible peace agreement with Russia,” and warned that this “might push Russia back” to occupying his country.
Zelensky added, in an interview with the BBC: “Making any territorial concessions will make us weaker as a country, and it is not regarding the settlement itself, why are we afraid of that? There are millions of concessions in life, the question is with whom? A settlement with (Russian President Vladimir) Putin?” No, because there is no trust in him.”
The Ukrainian president stated that the “spring offensive”, which Ukrainian officials had warned of, had already begun, saying that “Russian attacks are already being launched from several directions”.
Zelensky responded to statements made by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, at a press conference, on Thursday, in which he stressed that he would not send troops to Ukraine unless his country was attacked. We will fight and we will survive,” he said, adding that it would be a “huge mistake” to allow Russia to use Belarus as a springboard to launch an attack.
