Following the launch of Warzone 2, it’s no surprise that much of the focus has been on CoD’s new era of battle royale, from both a player and developer perspective.
However, whether due to the controversial features added in the sequel or nostalgia for the original gameplay and map, some players preferred to return to Caldera.

But can you still play Warzone 1 now that Modern Warfare 3 has integrated into Battle Royale with the new map, Urzikstan?

Can we still play Warzone 1 in 2024?
In June 2023, Activision has announced that the servers for Warzone 1 (renamed as Warzone Caldera) will permanently close on September 21, 2023. The Battle Royale included player progression from Modern Warfare (2019), Black Ops Cold War, and Vanguard.
This news came following Warzone 2 was renamed to Warzone, and just seven months following the original Warzone was renamed to Warzone Caldera.
It is therefore no longer possible for players to return to Caldera and find their weapons and skins.

However, if you miss the old Warzone too much, know that old maps will return this year to the current Battle Royale. So find out when Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep will return.
