The demand for solar panels has exploded. And although the Netherlands is a leader in the generation of solar energy, there have been too few people for years who can actually put the panels on the roof.

There is more at stake: according to the UWV, 46,000 technical professionals are needed to install heat pumps, build wind turbines and install heat networks. Without those people we can forget about the energy transition. Where are we going to get all these people from?

In this episode of the Climate Issue, Nienke Zoetbrood and Hannah van der Wurff dive into the overheated labor market with Joost van Velzen and Joost van Egmond, editors at Trouw. And they set off with solar panel installer Jesse Kloosterhuis.
