Following the symposium, the city of Cân Tho will help the company to establish links with cooperatives, cooperative groups and farmers to produce high-quality raw materials for export. From there, this connection will allow businesses to make profit and fruit growers to increase their income as well.

Good agricultural practice reinforced

Can Tho City has mobilized farmers to set aside areas for short-term vegetable and vegetable cultivation according to VietGAP production process to create a sustainable source of raw materials and create their own brand for easy access to the consumer market. Agricultural zones associated with cultivable region codes have provided farmers with easy access to new advanced techniques, reducing investment costs and increasing profits.

According to Pham Thi Minh Hiêu, representative of the Planting and Plant Protection Department of Can Tho, Can Tho has assigned a total of 52 planting area codes, over 25 cultivation regions with a total area of over of 403 ha and 323 participating households. This Competent Body also issued four packing establishment codes for two local establishments.

According to Mme Hiêu, in order to grant planting area codes to farmers, local authorities should support and continue to put in place favorable and appropriate conditions for farmers to register and complete the necessary procedures in order to quickly obtain planting area codes vis-à-vis localities and packing facilities. The cultivation region code is, in effect, considered a passport for the Can Tho fruit industry, a preparation to facilitate its exports. Truong Giang/CVN
