“In my rookie year we ended up 3-13-1 and the Lions fans were still there for us,” St. Brown told Sports Illustrated. “And now the hype is crazy.” He’s not entirely to blame, he’s now the top receiver and quarterback Jared Goff’s favorite pass station. In two years he has 2,073 yards and 11 touchdowns.
He experiences the hype in everyday life, whether in the supermarket or in the restaurant. “When a fan sees you, they get all excited. They have high expectations, but I feel like no matter what happens, they will always be there for us. That’s something I really appreciate as a player because it definitely gives the bandwagon fans that you see with big teams that win a lot.”
In terms of success, the Lions still have some catching up to do, and the number of Bandwagon fans should be limited at the moment. St. Brown enjoys the pre-start of training camp. “The Lions haven’t won anything in years,” said St. Brown. “To be a player on a team with a little hype and the fans are excited – that’s fun. It’s cool to see that as a player.”
