CAN Morocco 2022 (F): Ghizlane Chebbak named best player of the tournament

The 2022 Women’s African Cup of Nations ended this Saturday, July 23 with the consecration of South Africa. The Banyana Banyana beat the Atlas Lionesses of Morocco in the final (1-2). But the Moroccan Ghizlane Chebbak can console herself with the distinction of the best player of the competition.

Essential element in the tactical device of Morocco during this Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, the midfielder was able to carry Morocco during the group stage in particular. Ghizlane Chebbak distinguished herself by scoring three goals. That’s a goal every game in the group stage. This allowed her to finish top scorer in the group stage. Thanks to her high quality performances, the member of AS FAR (Morocco), aged 31, was named the best player of the competition.

As a reminder, this is the first time that Morocco has played in the final of a women’s Africa Cup of Nations. The Atlas Lionesses notably had the merit of eliminating Nigeria in the semi-finals on penalties. This following a 1-1 draw. They will play the World Cup for the first time in their history in 2023.
