Hardly a single day goes by until we return to discussing artificial intelligence issues in light of its increasing prevalence and the great aura that surrounds it.

Can artificial intelligence replace the real doctor? A question that may be controversial between supporters and opponents, especially following a recent American study conducted by the University of California concluded that artificial intelligence provides high-quality answers to patients, and is even more sympathetic than real doctors.

The study compared written responses from doctors to those from ChatGPT regarding real-world health inquiries to see which were of higher quality, more accurate, and faster.

An evaluation by a panel of healthcare professionals found ChatGPT responses to be 79 percent better, in terms of speed of response, and they were rated as higher in terms of quality of information provided that helps patients understand their condition.

However, despite these results, other reports came to warn once morest relying on chatbots equipped with artificial intelligence technology in the field of healthcare.

Study: ChatGPT is more empathetic than doctors

In this context, Dr. Wael Safwat, Regional Adviser for Health Awareness at the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases, and former consultant to the World Health Organization, said:

  • Every invention has its pros and cons, but the scary thing regarding artificial intelligence is that it is becoming more accurate and empathetic.
  • In gpt chat, accurate research is easy to access, which can lead to fraud.
  • There will be no substitute for the human glance, and no matter how advanced the devices and diagnoses are, the human factor is very important and cannot be replaced.
