CAN 2025 Qualifiers: DRC-Guinea and Ethiopia-DRC, locations, date, times and officials revealed

The first two days of the qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) Morocco 2025 are in sight. The Leopards know the officials appointed for the matches against the Syli National of Guinea and the Walya of Ethiopia.

On Friday, September 8 at 5 p.m., at the Martyrs stadium, the Congolese will launch their campaign against the Guineans. For this match that looks like a clash between two titans and a reunion in this group H, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has tasked an Egyptian quartet to lead it, announces the Congolese Federation of Association Football (FECOFA). Adel Elsaid Hussein is the central referee, Amed Tawfik Ali (Assistant 1), Hany Abdelfattah MAHMOUD ELSNADIDY (assistant 2), and Mahmoud Nagy AHMED NAGY MOSA (fourth official). In the same department, the Burundian Murengerantwari Evariste is the Match Commissioner and while the Ghanaian Kotey ALEXANDER Neequaye will be the assistant referee. This upcoming poster will serve as a relay for the Leopards who must not make any mistakes so as not to ruin all their chances.

Subsequently, two days later, they will be received by the Walya of Ethiopia. The Ethiopians will grant them hospitality at the Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium in Dar-Es-Salam. For this second outing, Algerian Lahlou Benbraham will be the whistle. The 37-year-old will be assisted by three of his compatriots: Akram Zerhouni (Assistant 1), Hamza Bouzit (Assistant 2) and Nabil Boukhalfa (fourth referee). Sebit Librato Begi Rassa of South Sudan is the match commissioner. Zambian Stanley Hachiwa, the referees’ assessor.

These qualifiers for the 35th African football tournament will take place over three months. The final phase, meanwhile, will take place between the end of December 2025 and January 2026. Drawn as the top seed, the Leopards know they are highly anticipated. Expectations proportional to their last performances at the Ivorian CAN which make them redouble the pressure. Last June for the third and fourth days of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, they provided the bare minimum against the Lions of Teranga (1-1) and against the Hawks of Togo (1-0) without convincing much.
