“I’m so happy not because we’re going down but because Salvini, the Italian Interior Minister, has fallen.” These are the words that Oscar Camps, the founder of the Spanish NGO Open Arms, pronounces in a video published online on 19 August 2019 by La Vanguardia, a Barcelona newspaper. The video was cited by the lawyer Giulia Bongiorno, Matteo Salvini’s lawyer, in her speech. The then Minister of the Interior is accused of kidnapping and refusal of official acts for having delayed the disembarkation of 147 migrants on board the ship. The deputy prime minister returns today, via social media, to that video and to Camps’ reply.
The latest shame of the founder of Open Arms.
In a 2019 video he rejoiced NOT for having allowed the illegal immigrants to disembark but because “Minister Salvini had fallen”: the Spaniard Oscar Camps, shamed in court by Giulia Bongiorno, now responds that “he was joking” and yes… pic.twitter.com/AP2ZvJKpdT

“During one of the hearings in the Palermo trial, in which the minister Matteo Salvini is accused of kidnapping and refusal of official documents, his lawyer Giulia Bongiorno spoke about a video in which I joked saying that the enthusiasm of the people on board was not linked to their landing, which had been expected for many days, but to the fall of the minister”, says Camps. And here is Matteo Salvini’s comment on in court by Giulia Bongiorno, now he replies that ‘he was joking’ and turns directly to my lawyer”. “First he exploited immigrants for a political battle, now he tries to intimidate my defense. Disgusting”, added the League leader.
