People and royalty
In 2007, William and Kate made headlines following a highly controversial split.
At the time, the prince was learning to be a helicopter pilot at a military school in Dorset while Kate was living in London. The two future spouses therefore used to spend time away from each other, but the surprise of the public was still great when both publicly acknowledged their separation. William had at the time insisted that they “trying to find their own way”and “It was just a bit of space. It turned out for the best”.
Several years later, we learn that the queen consort Camilla would have had an important role to play in this separation. The royal expert, Christopher Anderson, author of William and Kate : A Royal Love Storytold the Daily Beast : “I was in London when the break [de William et Kate] happened. I was shocked, completely stunned, everyone thought it was only a matter of time before William proposed to Kate. And then people started telling me that Camilla was behind it all. »
“Camilla is a bit of a snob”
But why would the former Duchess of Cornwall have wanted to break up the couple William and Kate? Mr. Anderson said you have to be aware that “Camilla is a bit of a snob”. He adds : “She is an aristocrat, she has always moved in royal circles. She always considered herself the heiress of Alice Keppel, her great-grandmother, who was the mistress of Edward VII. She was very proud of that bond, she bragged regarding it as a child and as an adult and that’s what she intended to do; to be part of the royal circle in the role of mistress of the future king, then of the king. »
“She didn’t see Kate as someone who was worthy of joining the royal family. Kate is the first working-class woman to be accepted into the royal family. She is a descendant of coal miners and her mother was a flight attendant.. The author adds: “For all of these reasons, Camilla never really thought that Kate Middleton as an individual and the Middleton family as a whole would be worthy of becoming royals. I was told at the time of the breakup, and later too, that Camilla basically whispered in Charles’ ear that it was really time to make – to force – William to make a decision one way or the other. ‘other. It has been publicly confirmed that Charles suggested William commit to Kate or release her, so to speak. Now, her motives for doing this may have been pure, but Camilla… not so much. She was the instigator of it all. »
Six weeks apart
The parents of George, Louis and Charlotte were then separated for a little over ten weeks, before relaunching their relationship. They finally got engaged in 2010, then married on April 29, 2011. Moreover, contrary to Camilla’s opinion, many observers declare that Kate Middleton is more from the upper middle class rather than the class. factory Girl. L’historian Robert Lacey described the Middleton family as having an aristocratic ancestry. Baroness Airedale is a distant ancestor of Michael Middleton – Kate’s father – and Kate and William are therefore related to the smallest of fourteen distant cousins.
Later, William would have “sitting with his father and grandmother” to discuss his future with Kate, royal biographer Katie Nicholl tells the magazine Vanity Fair. She explains that the prince was supposed to spend New Year’s Eve with the Middletons, but that he had withdrawn at the last minute. During his conversation with Charles and Queen Elizabeth II, both would have advised him to “don’t rush”. A story that reminds others…
