Camilitas in her 15’s – Bohemia Magazine

Students, parents and relatives cannot imagine how many loose ends had to be tied so that everything would be “well tied up”.

I am thinking of renting costumes, guaranteeing make-up for each girl, a carpet for them to walk on, balloons, flowers, chains, Creole cars for the journey to the center of the city, a floral offering to José Martí in the park that leads his name, return, waltz across the length and breadth of the square, family buffet…

It was not a whim or whim on the part of the management or the teaching staff at the Camilo Cienfuegos Military School, in Ciego de Ávila, but rather a starting point for the rescue of a beautiful tradition: collectively celebrating the 15th anniversary of students who reach that age .

“I think this party is very good that not even the rain might stop it. My daughter Leysi Marian Ricardo has had a great time and I think I have had the same or more” –says Deysi Torres, one of the mothers who does not know if the happy girls are princesses, “camilitas” or a professional cast of a conga that shudders, without exception, to the whole school.

By car through the city, towards Parque Martí.
Tribute to the Master.
Everyone wants their souvenir photo.
Beginning of the waltz
The conga calls.
From corridors and balconies, students enjoy the show.
Joy infects students, family members, workers…
A Long live! for the quinceañeras
As you are from yesterday, today’s photos will be seen tomorrow.
