A Cameroonian plan valued at 692 billion FCFA (regarding 1.15 billion US dollars) to fight HIV/AIDS between 2024 and 2030 was presented on Wednesday in Yaoundé, the Cameroonian capital, on the occasion of the second statutory meeting of the country’s National Committee to Fight AIDS (CNLS).
The meeting was chaired by the Minister of Public Health, Manaouda Malachie. The national strategic plan valued at 692 billion FCFA aims to reduce mortality linked to this disease and limit its impact on the development of the country. It targets 17 priorities including reducing the transmission of the disease from mother to child, he told the press.
According to the CNLS, only 42.8% of those under 15 know their serological status, compared to 92.5% in the adult age group.
Since the start of 2023, 106 billion FCFA have been allocated to the fight once morest HIV/AIDS by the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria in Cameroon.
