Cameroonian goalkeeper Andre Onana announced Thursday that he left Inter Milan, Italy, before moving to Manchester United.

According to Sky Sports, the 27-year-old goalkeeper has completed a medical to play in the Premier League, where he will sign United for 51 million euros, plus another 4 million euros in additional incentives.

Onana will be a replacement for veteran Spanish goalkeeper David de Gea, who announced a few days ago his departure from the “Red Devils” following a long career.

Onana’s statement addressed to Inter supporters

“I fell in love with San Siro, La Corva and the whole city. Now the conditions are right for me to start a new adventure in Manchester.” “I will do so with great enthusiasm, knowing that I will miss you.” My gratitude to all Inter fans. You make this club a great place.”

Onana joined Inter in July 2022 from Ajax Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and quickly became the first goalkeeper in coach Simone Inzaghi’s squad, and was a pivotal element in the season that ended with Inter winning the Italian Cup and the local Super Cup, and the team also reached the Champions League final.

It seemed inevitable that Onana would become the first goalkeeper for Cameroon in the long term, but he decided to retire internationally following playing only one match in the 2022 World Cup, as he was suspended for disciplinary reasons following 34 international matches with the “Lions”.
