Cameroon legend Leela Koura: Salah is the best in Africa

Patrick Mboma, the legend of Cameroon, believes that Mohamed Salah, the Egyptian star, is the best player in Africa currently, noting that the number of titles is not a criterion for the strength of the two teams before facing them in the African Nations Cup.

The Egyptian national team had a fiery meeting with its host Cameroonian counterpart, Thursday, in the semi-finals of the 2021 African Nations Cup.

Mboma said in Leila Koura’s statements: “We have not decided our semi-final match yet. It is a confrontation between the two giants of African football, despite the two teams’ titles in the tournament (12 for both of them in total out of 32), but this does not mean that Egypt and Cameroon are better. The teams on the continent, the very big challenge.”

The former Cameroon national team star added: “Mohamed Salah and Mohamed Elneny are the strong fortresses within the formation of the Egyptian team, which plays heavily with coach Carlos Queiroz. This is really impressive. I think Queiroz trains them a lot on that.”

He continued: “When you follow the Egyptian team, you find a huge mass of players, and in the end they can count on the star Mohamed Salah, the best player on the continent at the moment.”

He continued: “Mohamed Salah is amazing, he is unpredictable, he is really an impressive player.”

And he concluded: “The Egyptian team has become more confident, and as I said, we have not decided to qualify for the final yet, and we have to put all these things into consideration.”
