Cameron Diaz plans to return to acting once more, following a period of retirement, by participating in a new film with Jamie Foxx.
Actor and musician Fox announced the news on social media platforms, and published the content of a phone call between him and Diaz.
This comes regarding 8 years following Diaz and Fox met in the 2014 movie “Annie”, which was the last appearance of the American actress until today.
Diaz, 49, said she was “very concerned” but “excited” to return to acting.
During the call, Fox, who won an Oscar for his portrayal of Ray Charles in 2004, engaged Super Bowl winner Tom Brady to offer some advice on how to launch Diaz’s remarkable comeback.
In March, Brady returned to professional football, six weeks following announcing his retirement.
“I was talking to Jimmy and he said you needed some advice on how to come back from retirement,” Brady said.
He added, “I am relatively successful in returning from retirement.”
Diaz answered him over the phone, saying, “Honestly, that’s exactly what I need.”

Diaz rose to prominence in 1994 with her role in “Mask” with Jim Carrey, and then went on to become one of the highest-paid actresses in Hollywood.
She is best known for her role in There’s Something About Mary, with Ben Stiller, for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe Award. She was also known for other roles such as her roles in “Charlie’s Angels” and “The Holiday”.
She also voiced the character of Princess Fiona in the popular animated film Shrek. She was nominated for a BAFTA Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Being John Malkovich.
Diaz officially confirmed her retirement in 2018, 4 full years following her last appearance on the cinema screen.
But she confirmed that she would not rule out a return to acting one day.
During her retirement, Diaz indicated that she was happy with her decision, and once said, “I have found comfort, and spiritual peace, simply because I am taking care of myself.”
She added, “I know that many will not understand what I am saying, but it is difficult to continue to work at this level and to be exposed to fame and contact with people.”

Diaz has worked with Fox more than once
Filming of the new movie, Back in Action, will begin at the end of this year, and it will be in the comedy-thriller category, according to Netflix, which confirmed that the plot will remain confidential.
The film will be directed by Seth Gordon, who co-wrote the screenplay with Brendan O’Brien, who co-wrote the movie.
The film is the latest in a series of films produced by Netflix, starring prominent actors, as it seeks to compensate for the loss of subscribers to its broadcasting platform.
