Camelbak Forge Flow: Innovative Features and Safety Precautions

The US manufacturer Camelbak has equipped the latest version of the Forge drinking bottle with useful innovations. The operating instructions only seem unnecessary at first glance.

The warning in five languages on an enclosed piece of paper initially seems a bit exaggerated, not atypical for products of American origin: “Before tilting the cup to drink, always press the button with the cup in an upright position!” Almost as if you were being asked to close the container to your mouth lead, not to the nose. But the warning has a real background: we have in front of us a thermos bottle whose spout can be opened at the push of a button; If hot air inside creates excess pressure that cannot escape before drinking, splashing or even scalding is not far off.

Because the vacuum-insulated steel bottle Forge Flow from the US brand Camelbak keeps you warm (or cold) really well inside. And the shutter is really good if used carefully. One hand is enough, even with a glove – the drinking opening obeys. A useful detail in the latest version of the tried-and-tested bottle: A small slider blocks the spout in the open position if desired, so that you can let the drink cool down more quickly or take it in sips more comfortably.

Can be dismantled and dishwasher safe

What’s more: If you unscrew the lid, the valve can be completely unfolded and cleaned thoroughly. Both the lid and the body of the bottle are dishwasher safe. The bottle is available in four sizes from 0.35 to 0.6 liters. The half-liter version costs 30 to 40 euros. Disadvantages: a fairly high weight (348 g) and the fact that a few drops can easily remain in the spout following closing. Camelbak has a more suitable thermally insulated product in its range for bottle holders on the bike.
