*** MPV believes that Venezuelans will not go out on June 28 to defend a card, but rather a country where they can live with dignity ***
“Any president of the Republic must promote calm, the tranquility of his people, he must be the guarantor of peace. How can a president in office say that if he loses the country will burn in flames? What a contradiction, Nicolás Maduro. What you have to do is offer peace to Venezuela, and peace comes from respect for the rule of law and, above all, compliance with the decision of the Venezuelans on July 28,” said Simón Calzadilla, national secretary general of the Movement for Venezuela (MPV).
From Barquisimeto, Lara state, Calzadilla said he had no doubt that citizens would defend their victory in the streets, “in a peaceful and constitutional manner.”
He said they will not come out to defend a leader or a political party, but will preserve “their right to have a country in which they can live with dignity. They will not allow their future to be taken away from them and cause them more harm than has already been done. We are going to move this country forward with the people demanding respect for their decision.”
The MPV leader is confident that the change and alternation in power will occur peacefully, while referring to the fact that the people decided to reestablish democracy “and the leader of a democracy is the citizen.”
He reiterated to public employees that voting is secret and that the only thing they have to face is the voting machine. “What we can be afraid of is continuing to live as we are living with this government.”
