After completing his tour with Ed Sheeran, the artist will embark on a solo tour in the fall.
Platinum-selling singer and songwriter Calum Scott has a new song out. “Roots” is a summer staple, and it already made its live debut on Calum and Ed Sheeran’s tour.
Produced by The Six (Bebe Rexha, Little Mix), Dino Medanhodzic and Jon “MAGS” Maguire (Leona Lewis, Rita Ora), the song showcases Calum’s more carefree side and pop sensibilities while also being a high-energy track that aims to lift listeners’ spirits.
“Roots” is definitely one of Scott’s most optimistic songs, celebrating the soul-brightening power of love while emphasizing that the young have the right to make mistakes.
Since the first teaser of “Roots” was posted on social media, fans have been loving the song and can’t wait for its release. The artist’s shared snippets of the song have been viewed over 10 million times. The premiere of “Roots” took place in mid-June at Rock In Rio in Lisbon. Today, we finally have a look at the final, studio version of the song.
Scott is currently touring with Ed Sheeran on the extended Mathematics Tour. After the tour ends, he’ll be back home for a while, but he’ll be hitting North America on The Songbook So Far Tour in the fall. Calum’s support will be the rising Irishman Cian Ducrot.
Calum Scott’s 2018 debut album Only Human went gold or platinum in 21 countries and has amassed 12.5 billion streams. The album spawned the breakthrough hit “You Are The Reason” (#25 on Spotify’s US Viral 50 and Top 10 on iTunes in 38 countries), as well as his hugely popular cover of Robyn’s “Dancing On My Own” (BRIT nomination for Best British Single). Calum’s collaboration with Belgian producer Lost Frequencies, “Where Are You Now,” became a hit, and its music video now has almost 140 million views on YouTube.
In recent years, Calum’s music has regularly appeared in major TV shows and series. The artist decided to enter completely new, bold artistic paths, which he proved in the single “Biblical” from his second album “Bridges”. The album also includes the songs “Heaven”, “If You Ever Change Your Mind” and “Rise” (“one of the 50 most inspiring LGBTQ+ songs of all time” according to “Rolling Stone”).
On July 12 and 13, Calum will support Ed Sheeran at concerts in Gdansk.
