A new national strike was called in the education sector.

This came in a statement by Mechanrk to the Educational Workers’ Coordination Committee against the backdrop of what it considered to be the continued temporary suspension of dozens of professors from work for a period exceeding four months.

In this regard, the educational coordination consisting of: the unified coordination of teaching staff and support frameworks in Morocco, the national coordination of the education sector, and the national coordination of teachers of rehabilitative secondary education, in the joint statement, a copy of which Agadir 24 received, called on all teachers to participate in the protest program calling for a general national strike in the sector on April 22, 2024, accompanied by a concentrated stand in front of Parliament, a march to the headquarters of the Ministry of National Education, and a central sit-in open to all detainees.

The educational coordination itself also decided to carry out protests during the break period inside most educational institutions throughout the days of April 16, 17, 18, 19, and 20, 2024, while holding a press conference on Friday, April 19, 2024 to shed light on the developments in the education sector and the file of the detainees, and considered that the return to strike and protest is due to “ The injustice they suffered and the resulting cutting off of the livelihoods of dozens of professors and specialized staff without taking into account national, human and civil rights, and the psychological abuse of collective punishment that all women and men in education were subjected to forced a return to protest.”

Moreover, the coordination held the Ministry of National Education responsible for the continued tension in the sector due to “the approach of the escape forward policy by not withdrawing the arbitrary and illegal arrest decisions and the unjust procedures accompanying them.”
