Game news Call of Duty: The Vanguard episode still accused of plagiarism?

Just a week ago, an artist accuses Activision and Raven Software of plagiarism! We thought everything was going to be back to normal, but that was without counting on the news of the day. Call of Duty: Vanguard, Activision’s FPS seems to have copied a second time.

Activision accused of plagiarism for the first time

Season 4 of Call of Duty : Warzoneand of Call of Duty : Vanguard seems to have lacked inspiration… Last week, a certain Saillin indeed expressed his disappointment when he discovered that one of his drawings posted on ArtStation in 2019 had potentially been copied by Activison.

Hi everyone, I’m Saillin, the original artist of the Samoyed skin copied in Call of Duty Vanguard. I only discovered the plagiarism at the time of the announcement. Even though I’m a Call of Duty player, I’m disappointed to see my work plagiarized in this way by a big company like Activision. I have contacted Activision for an explanation and/or compensation, and I hope the issue will be resolved soon. As an independent artist, that’s all I can do, and I need to talk regarding it publicly to make sure this kind of thing happens once more in the future.

If since the case seems to be on the verge of closing – Activision has taken care to contact the artist personally (for more information, we suggest you click here) –, it seems that the American publisher has struck once more.

Rebelote for Activision!

It only took a week for the Call of Duty license to be accused of plagiarism once more. This time, Activision would have been (too) heavily inspired by a character made by Robert Bowling, a former developer at Infinity Ward, for the game Dedrop, the multiplayer FPS from streamer Dr Disrespect. Indeed, whether it’s Robert Bowling’s creation or Call of Duty: Vanguard’s Doomsayer skin, both feature the exact same design.

This time around, it wasn’t the character designer himself who noticed the striking resemblance, but rather a player who loves both Call of Duty: Vanguard and Deadrop.

I think Robert Bowling will be happy to see that Activision has just added its own skin in Vanguard… Or not!

For the moment, Robert Bowling has not reacted too much to this affair, but he still made a tweet as enigmatic as it is funny a few hours ago.

At least give him my name.

We imagine that the story around these plagiarisms will not end there. If so, we will of course keep you informed.
