Tomorrow is when Call of Dutu Modern Warfare 2 will finally launch worldwide in both digital and physical versions. And precisely, it is the latter that interest us since an unfortunate detail has just been spotted.
An unnecessarily busy Blu-Ray
As you can imagine: with a worldwide release scheduled for tomorrow, some have already had the chance to get their hands on Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 canned, stores and resellers must have generously stocked upstream to meet demand. This is how the curious little ones realized one thing: on the disk, only 70MB of data are present.
It goes without saying that this occupied space is absolutely minimal and as noted by Destruction Games, who spotted and shared the information on Twitter, it is 0.07223% of the Blu-Ray’s capacity. The problem is that the game itself does not weigh 70MB but dozens and dozens of gigabytes that absolutely must be installed on the SSD to be launched.
Disappointed players
It goes without saying that by buying a box and an “empty” disc at a high price – all the same required to play the game, of course – one wonders what the latter can be used for. These 70 MB therefore only seem to represent the official license, necessary to launch the software and to install the title on its console. Yesterday, the software also received an update of around 40 GB.
Destruction Games continues and expresses its displeasure:
I know people sometimes say that the discs only contain the licenses and then you have to download the whole game, but this is the first time that’s actually been the case. Even the few previous CODs contained SOME game data. Huge shame on Activision for dropping this low and also shame on Sony for allowing them to print this.
According to other users, the data would be identical for the physical version on Xbox. In short, you understood: if you want to play Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2having the disk won’t save you the very greedy space it will require on your machine.
