Game News Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2: Cheaters hunted before the game even comes out!
The subject of cheating in multiplayer games is not new, but it seems impossible to put aside. Each game has its own problems with cheaters, to the point that even the betas are now used to calibrate the tools. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is out in 11 days, and cheaters have already been warned.
Between September 16 and 26, many players were able to try the beta of the multiplayer mode of Call of Duty : Modern Warfare 2, which took place in several phases depending on the platform. A first grip which made it possible to discover the feeling in game, but also for the developers of gather as much information as possible before making the final adjustments for the launch October 28 next.
Cheating in Call of Duty Mordern Warfare 2, a central and sensitive subject for Activision
The mini-card has created heated debates, as well as the obligation to secure authentication with a smartphone. That did not prevent the beta from meeting a great successsign that following the relative failure of Vanguardplayers are ready to rediscover the franchise with this remake of Modern Warfare 2. But another topic has ignited discussions around the game, that of cheating. As we know, cheaters are numerous and present for many years on the main episodes or on the battle royale Call of Duty : Warzoneand Activision is constantly developing new tools to fight.
We obviously think of the RICOCHET system, which has already made it possible to banish several hundred thousand fraudulent accountsbut also to gentler techniques, which aim to keep the cheaters in the games while depriving them of important features. A system which makes it possible to observe the behavior of a suspicious player and to collect data before sanctioning. The idea is also similar to what we see in certain series when the police make a telephone conversation last to locate a suspect or a victim.
Already tens of thousands of banned accounts
Anyway, the subject immediately returned to the table during the beta, and players quickly raised to fear that the launch will be marked of the seal of cheating. A few days before the launch of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Activision is showing the muscles and reveals the number of banned players even before launch. On its official website, the publisher revealed the following figures:
In preparation for the beta, #TeamRICOCHET banned over 60,000 illicit accounts from our system, denying them access to the event. During the beta itself, over 20,000 bans were issued (…).
In total, we are therefore talking regarding more than 80,000 accounts suspended or blockedwith executed exclusions during the first 5 games played. Good news for players, who are waiting with some trepidation to see how the new version of the Ricochet anti-cheat software will behave.
The benefit of a pre-launch beta is being able to test new methodologies and systems before launch to see what’s viable (…) Fighting cheaters is an ebb and flow process. There is no simple solution to prevent cheating from happening. Although only partial anti-cheat systems were deployed for the free-to-play beta, the team learned valuable lessons regarding what worked and what didn’t, Activision added.
