Call of Duty: Leak: Will it still be available for last-gen consoles in 2024?

It was widely assumed that this year’s Call of Duty might be the last for last-gen consoles – but we may have all been wrong. At least that’s what a new leak suggests!

It’s not yet clear how Call of Duty will continue in the current year 2023. The rumor mill has already ranged from a larger expansion to a full-fledged offshoot – but there was agreement on one point: the last-gen consoles PS4 and Xbox One will also be supplied once more.

It was generally assumed that these platforms would then come to an end; instead, according to reports, only PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S should be supplied from 2024 – if Microsoft and Sony can agree on a continuation of the Call of Duty cooperation in the light of the Activision Blizzard deal. But we might all have been wrong regarding that!

A new leak now suggests that the Call of Duty planned for 2024 might continue to appear for the last generation of consoles and thus for PS4 and Xbox One. This is reported by the usually well-informed insider Tom Henderson via Insider Gaming. Henderson relies on documents from the data leak at Activision Blizzard on December 4, 2022.

According to Henderson, the information might be outdated in the meantime because the publisher might have changed his mind since the data leak, but there are other indications that this might actually happen. After all, all Call of Duty games would now run on the same engine – regardless of the developer studio. This change was implemented for COD 2.0 and would simplify the development processes.

In addition, thanks to the 10-year deal with Nintendo, games from the shooter series should also appear on the switch – and it is known that it is not too strong in terms of performance.

Before the new report, there was already a dataminer leak RealityUK given, who presented some images from Call of Duty 2024, which were discoverable via Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile in 2022. One of these images showed the Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk, a former American attack aircraft, taken in October 1983.
