Activision Blizzard’s ‘Call of Duty’ series will be released on the PlayStation platform in the future.
Microsoft President and Vice President Brad Smith announced on his official blog on February 9 (US time) that Call of Duty will be released on the PlayStation even following the current contract between Sony and Activision Blizzard ends. He promised to do so with Sony.
On January 19 of this year, Microsoft announced that it would acquire Activision Blizzard, which owns Call of Duty IP (intellectual property) for $68.7 billion (regarding 8217 trillion won), since the Call of Duty series has been released on Xbox. There were also predictions that the game would be exclusive to the Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass, but Microsoft chose to cooperate instead of monopoly.
This gives Sony a chance to breathe, securing the foundation to continue supplying PlayStation gamers with the highly valuable Call of Duty series in the North American gaming market.
However, Microsoft has only mentioned one thing regarding Call of Duty at the moment, and since Activision Blizzard’s ‘World of Warcraft’, ‘Diablo’, ‘Overwatch’ and other IPs have not yet announced what they will do, it is time for Sony to really be reassured. I need this more.
