Cali and Barranquilla, no homicides during the Christmas celebration – Crimes – Justice

The Christmas celebration in the country had two good news: nor there were homicides in Cali or Barranquilla, according to the partial balance provided by the authorities and which will be complemented this Monday by the National Police that will deliver the security report at the national level.

For now, local authorities have reported four murders in the country’s capital and another two in the Aburra Valley.

The cases in Bogotá occurred in the towns of Kennedy, Santa Fe, and Mártires, while those that occurred in Valle de Aburrá were, one, in the municipality of Caldas and the other in the El Danubio de La América neighborhood, in Medellín. , who appeared in the middle of a struggle in a family discussion. The victim is an older adult who fell to the ground in the fight and died from a blow to the head.

Regarding personal injuries, between December 24 and the early morning of December 25, 11 people were injured by firearms or knives in the Aburrá Valley, 4 fewer cases than in the same period of 2021. There the Police treated 5,770 calls, 266 fewer than the previous year, of which 882 were due to disturbances due to high volume (192 fewer cases), 610 due to domestic violence (92 fewer) and 530 due to fights (32 fewer).

Balance in Bogota

In Bogotá, for its part, 24,611 calls were answered to the emergency line, 123 of which 2,783, corresponding to 45 percent, were due to fights, followed by calls for complaints, thefts, injuries, intrafamily, sexual and gender violence. .
In events associated with fights and other scenarios, 23 people were injured while being treated at different medical centers in the city.

Regarding road safety, there were 1,430 claims, where

In the midst of surveillance and control activities in different locations in the capital, especially at night and early morning, 9 bottles of adulterated liquor and 41 kilograms of gunpowder were seized.

Similarly, 809 subpoenas were imposed for carrying sharp weapons, 121 for seizure of narcotics, 86 for transfer for protection, 26 for suspension of economic activity, 22 for seizure of mobile terminals, 18 for disrespect for police authority , 13 for seizure of gunpowder, 12 for fights, 7 seizures of reduced lethality weapons, 1 for seizure of adulterated liquor.

Other cities

Apart from not registering homicides, the partial balance of the Cali Metropolitan Police did not report fights until the closing of this edition, but only the seizure of four firearms with 19 cartridges and 8,398 grams of marijuana, as well as five captures, three of which, were for possession of firearms.

In Barranquilla, where there were no deaths either, on December 24 the Police pointed out that this is a significant event because last year there were six cases. On the other hand, at the celebration in Bucaramanga, Santander, the Police reported three homicides that originated in the midst of fights in Bucaramanga, Piedecuesta and Girón.

The burned ones continue

The National Institute of Health reported that so far in December 503 people have been injured by fireworks, compared to 588 the previous year. Most of the cases have occurred in Bogotá with 55, followed by Antioquia with 54, Nariño with 34, Cauca with 29, Córdoba with 26, Tolima with 24, Santander with 26 and Cundinamarca with 21, among others.

And the causes of the injuries are mainly burns, lacerations, and bruises, due to handling or as an observer of the use of artifacts such as totes, flyers, rockets, and volcanoes, among others.

For example, in Santander there were six people burned, including two girls. One, under 14 years of age from Floridablanca, whose handkerchief exploded in her hands, leaving second degree burns and problems in her ear. Y another nine-year-old in Piedecuesta who was burned while manipulating a volcano that exploded on her face, causing first-degree burns.

One of the cases in Antioquia occurred in Medellín: it is regarding a 20-year-old man who suffered second-degree burns on his face caused by flyers. And, in El Retiro, a 36-year-old man suffered an amputation and fractured fingers from heels.
