“Calderón should be quiet”; AMLO responds to the former president for criticizing the security strategy The president Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador stated that the former president Felipe Calderon should be “quiet” instead of attacking and questioning the current policy against violence.

“Yesterday I told him and the man was upset, but it is the truth, the right arm of Felipe Calderón, the former Secretary of Security (Genaro) García Luna is in prison in the United States, accused of protecting crime, and he still dares to question and attack us, when he should be quiet”.

In his press conference at the National Palace, the head of the federal Executive said that former President Calderón must explain why he acted in this way and why he declared war on organized crime without an analysis of what was happening.

“That he explain why he declared war, why he foolishly hit the hornet’s nest with a club, that they did not have an analysis of what was happening, it was made easy for him as a political act to obtain legitimacy; because he stole the presidential election, putting on a military uniform and going to declare war and he put us on this slide of violence.”

Likewise, President López Obrador questioned the Michoacan politician if he did not realize who his Secretary of Public Security was and his relationship with organized crime.

After President López Obrador called Felipe Calderón “cynical” for lamenting the alleged execution of 17 people in Michoacán, when he started the war against drug trafficking, the former president defended himself on social networks and criticized the Tabascan security strategy.

On his Twitter account he wrote: “The cynical thing, the really cynical thing is to send hugs to those murderers.”
