In an exclusive interview with the Qatar News Agency (QNA Sports) account on Twitter, on Wednesday, Al-Khater said regarding the costs of the World Cup: “Qatar has incurred high costs for the establishment of the World Cup, including stadiums, facilities and others…but FIFA also bears the costs of hospitality, transportation of teams and financial prizes.” .

He continued by saying, “Qatar’s victory 12 years ago with the right to host the 2022 World Cup was a catalyst for developing the country’s infrastructure, especially the various sports facilities.”

He continued, “We have provided housing for all World Cup fans at prices that suit all groups, and there is a periodic update of prices, there are new apartments that start at $80, which is not found in the whole world.”

And he added, “We finished selling tickets for the second phase on August 16, and a good amount will be available at the end of September, especially for the Saudi public looking to attend the World Cup. Tickets for the match between Saudi Arabia and Argentina are the second best-selling matches in the World Cup.”

He continued, “We in the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy were sure of the high demand for World Cup tickets due to Qatar’s geographical location close to Asian countries, such as China and India, and European countries.” He continued, “Everyone calculates the time remaining on the World Cup in days, and we calculate it in hours.”

He concluded his speech by saying, “Many parties supported that the opening match of the 2022 World Cup be held on a separate day. We welcome the people of the Gulf region in their land, Qatar, for the success of the first World Cup in the Arab world and the Middle East.”
