Calabria Earthquake, the magnitude 5 shock is scary but does not cause damage –

Only a lot of fear but no damage. The earthquake of magnitude 5 recorded yesterday evening around 9:40 pm with epicenter in Pietrapaola, in the Cosenza area, was felt in almost all of Calabria, with the exception of the province of Reggio Calabria, but did not cause consequences on people or things. The confirmation comes this morning, after the checks that continued throughout the night, from the president of the Region, Roberto Occhiuto. The first shock was followed by other earthquakes of lesser intensity, also in this case felt by the population.

Still slight decreases on averages: updated petrol and diesel costs

“Calabria, – Occhiuto’s words – after the strong earthquake of yesterday evening, followed by other aftershocks, has experienced a night of apprehension. The Fire Brigade has continued to carry out surveys on the buildings of the municipalities closest to the epicentre of the earthquake without interruption. And the regional Civil Protection, led by Domenico Costarella, has assisted the population and local administrators. Fortunately, at the moment, the absence of damage to people or things has been confirmed. The inspections will obviously continue throughout the day, and with the light of day it will be possible to proceed with further investigations. A special thanks to the mayors, led by the mayor of Pietrapaola, Manuela Labonia, all the front line and all – concludes the president of the Southern region – ready to reassure their fellow citizens, to the rescuers and the police forces who with their usual professionalism have ensured the necessary support to face this emergency”. Only a great fright for the people of the area near Cosenza.
