They cherished the hope of breaking the record of the year 2019: to exceed the number of 3600 participants, runners and walkers in Cahors. The women who lined up this Sunday morning, at the start of the Cadurcienne once morest breast cancer, were precisely 3,500. Record approached. It’s nice ! This is the word, because this pink tide has swept over the Cadurcian asphalt with the fierce desire to help research to defeat this cancer which still kills 12,000 women a year in France.
Sylvie had marked Sunday, October 9 on her diary a long time ago. No way, despite knee pain, to give up the race once morest breast cancer. “Each registration for the Cadurcienne is a small drop that fills the vase of the researchers. I am not at all athletic. The only race in which I participate is this one. I train hard a week before and then it’s off for 6 kilometres. I hope my knee won’t let go. Otherwise, I’ll end up walking.”
This Sunday morning before the start is given by the mayor of Cahors Jean-Marc Vayssouze, the association of Extrapédestres which pilots this sporting and solidarity event had planned a giant warm-up with four podiums installed on the Fénelon alleys. It was necessary that to celebrate the 20 years of the Cadurcienne.

Confetti, like a thousand cherries on the birthday cake
A confetti cannon towered over the square and intrigued the participants before departure. A nice surprise like thousands of multicolored cherries on the cake.
Together and rarely once morest each other. This is the state of mind of the Cadurcienne.
Magalie and her sister Isabelle were amazed. “It’s the first time we’ve taken part in La Cadurcienne. We found it spectacular as soon as we arrived on the square 15 minutes before the start. The atmosphere is purely brilliant. I had rarely seen so many people gathered on a same space. And then all this pink, it warms the heart. We feel a real solidarity to fight cancer and support research. We also feel that women are there for this humanitarian action and not to achieve a sporting performance. This is not the main thing!” exclaims Magalie enthusiastically. She perfectly summed up the spirit of this meeting which women never deviate from in Cahors.
Whole groups from companies, whole families and full of hope once morest the disease
They came there with friends, work colleagues, family as well as this mother, named Sophie, her aunt and her two daughters. “I’ve been taking part in the Cadurcienne with my aunt for ten years. This year I was able to motivate my two daughters. We do it out of solidarity, because we love sport, but also because we have a very good friend from our family who has breast cancer” confides Sophie.

The women of the gendarmerie, the hospitallers, representatives (teachers, students, mothers) of the Olivier-de-Magny college and many other groups took part in this moment of solidarity.
The event was won by Cécile Resseguié who is ahead of Vania Boisset Mariam Resseguié (Cécile’s mother), who has already won the Cadurcienne, finished on the third step of the podium.

For the first kilometres, runners and walkers traversed the streets of the old center before heading with full strides or short walking steps towards the Valentré bridge which, from the top of its three towers, had a front row seat to witness the arrival of all those fighters who want to defeat this damn cancer.

The duo Symmetry composed of Phil Wake and Jean-Yves Besnard (folk and rock) was present to push the last participants towards the finish line. A role that the artist also played A little local guy in the city. Another surprise on arrival: organic cosmetics offered by Phyt’s laboratories and the Gamarde brand, sport and health partners of La Cadurcienne.
