The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) has officially announced the much-anticipated details surrounding the draw procedure for the upcoming TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), which is set to take place in Morocco in 2024.
The highly awaited draw will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024, at the esteemed Mohammed VI Technical Centre in Salé. The proceedings will commence at 20h00 local time (19h00 GMT), inviting football fans and media alike to participate in this pivotal moment for women’s football in Africa.
This prestigious tournament will showcase Africa’s top 12 teams, as they compete fiercely in a structured format that divides them into three competitive groups of four, fostering thrilling match-ups across the continent.
Qualified Teams and Their Seeding
In accordance with the established regulations, the 12 qualified teams will be systematically seeded into four levels based on their current FIFA rankings. This careful seeding process is designed to promote a balanced distribution of talent during the tournament, ensuring that participating nations face fair challenges from the initial stages.
- Level 1: Morocco (host), Nigeria, South Africa
- Level 2: Zambia, Ghana, Tunisia
- Level 3: Mali, Senegal, Algeria

As the official host nation, Morocco automatically secures position A1, while the defending champions, South Africa, will take position C1. The third team from Level 1 will be allocated to position B1, further setting the stage for engaging matches.
