“CAF” confirms by Laila Koura assigning Morocco to organize the final of the Champions

An official source in the Confederation of African Football “CAF” confirmed the assignment of the Moroccan Football Association to organize the final of the current edition of the African Champions League.

And CAF announced last Monday that the final of the African Champions League will be held at the Mohammed V complex in Casablanca on May 30.

The source, who requested anonymity, told Leila Koura that CAF sent an official letter to the Moroccan Football Association, notifying it to assign the organization of the CAF Champions League final on May 30.

The source pointed out that the African Union closed the door to discussions between its members, and with Patrice Motsby, president of CAF, following the state of media and public anger that accompanied the announcement of the final in Morocco following the withdrawal of Senegal.

Yesterday, Yalakoura had learned from a source close to Patrice Motsebe that the CAF president was upset following learning regarding the decision to hold the CAF Champions League final this year in Morocco, and that the decision was made without his knowledge.

Motsebe had held a meeting within the executive office of CAF, and offered to host Senegal for the final, as he wanted to hold the meeting in a West African country.

But with the CAF executive office insisting on voting and approving the holding of the Champions League final in Morocco, Motsepe offered Faouzi Lekjaa, president of the Moroccan Football Association, to communicate with Augustin Senghor, president of the Senegalese Federation and first vice-president of CAF, in order to find a compromise formula.

It is worth noting that the first leg of the semi-finals of the African Champions League saw Al-Ahly defeat ES Setif of Algeria (4-0), and Wydad of Morocco over Petro Atletico of Angola (3-1).
