Cabinet approval to organize a national council for occupational safety and health 1443 AH

The Council of Ministers recently gave its approval to organize the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health, whereby the Minister of Human Resources and Social Development is tasked with organizing it, provided that it is located at the headquarters of the Ministry of Human Resources in the capital, Riyadh. Occupational safety and health is a protection for workers from any danger, whether physical or social or mental.

Tasks of the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health in 1443 AH

The Council of Ministers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has given its approval to organize the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health and entrusted it with several tasks, which are as follows:

  • Review the regulations, legislation and regulations related to occupational safety and health.
  • Study all programs and regulatory tools related to occupational safety and health.
  • Suggesting amendments, provided that the latter conforms to the statutory procedures.
  • Creating an effective monitoring and evaluation system in coordination with the concerned authorities. Reviewing international reports related to occupational safety and health.
  • Creating an integrated and comprehensive program for reporting all accidents and injuries that occur in the workplace, and documenting the reports and the results of investigations related to them in coordination with the concerned authorities.

Objectives of the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health

The Council is concerned with spreading awareness of the importance and necessity of giving priority to occupational safety and health for all workers in all parts of the Kingdom. Its objectives are summarized as follows:

  • Harnessing all available resources and capabilities in this field in coordination with the concerned authorities.
  • Providing advice and advice on occupational safety and health.
  • Define a structure for national occupational safety and health in order to create a flexible system in the application of provisions related to occupational safety.
  • Coordination of roles and tasks between government agencies to create a cooperative relationship between employers, workers and their representatives.
  • Ensure the safety of workers, physically, mentally and socially.
  • The council also aims to adopt all initiatives and programs entrusted with occupational safety and health, and a commitment to follow up on the continuity and results of occupational safety and health activities in the work environment.

The government is striving to provide a suitable and safe work environment for workers, and this decision is an embodiment of the Kingdom’s concerns regarding the occupational safety and health of workers.
