Caála administration distributes 363 tons of fertilizers – news

Three hundred and 63 tons of fertilizers, including 12/24/12 fertilizer and ammonium sulfate, were distributed to peasant families in the municipality of Caála, Huambo province, during the first agricultural season 2023/2024, in an initiative by the local administration

Speaking today, Tuesday, to ANGOP, the director of Agriculture in the municipality of Caála, Avelino Calupeteca, said that the fertilizers delivered, from October to December 2023, under the subsidy program of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.

The official reported that the initiative benefited six thousand peasant families, an increase of 3 percent compared to the same previous period.

The beneficiaries, he added, are mostly members of the 155 producer cooperatives, controlled by the Administration of the municipality of Caála, which in total are home to 75 thousand peasant families.

Avelino Calupeteca said that by the end of the agricultural season, scheduled for April this year, the program plans to increase the number of fertilizer beneficiaries, with the distribution of other agricultural equipment, within the scope of the Agrarian Development Support Fund (FADA).

According to the person responsible, despite the irregularity of the rains, an increase in the levels of agricultural production of peasant families is expected, with emphasis on corn, wheat, vegetables and legumes.

The municipality of Caála, one of the 11 that make up the province of Huambo, has an estimated population of 379 thousand 102 inhabitants, the majority of whom are of working age.
