At the beginning of this week, the 3.6 km long Sopron bypass was handed over with an investment volume of 10.3 billion forints.
Near the Austrian-Hungarian border, Ágfalvi út is now connected to the M85 expressway. Construction of the northwest bypass began in December 2019 and was completed two months ahead of the contract deadline. The government has supported the construction of the expressway with gross budget funds of HUF 300 billion.
The expansion of the M85 to the Austrian border is progressing quickly, said Péter Ágh, State Secretary in the Ministry of Construction and Transport. The final section of the M85 will be a 4.12km dual carriageway to the Austrian border, connecting to the already completed dual carriageway section.
Between 2010-2024, more than 870 km of highways and roads were built at a cost of around HUF 2,900 billion. Almost 800 km of existing highways were renovated for around 570 billion forints and almost 300 km of new highways were built for a total of almost 600 billion forints.
