Chinese electric car manufacturer BYD opened a factory in Indonesia located in the independent city of Subang Smartpolitan. BYD is said to be the largest tenant in Subang Smartpolitan, occupying an area of more than 108 hectares.

This marks a monumental achievement for Subang Smartpolitan, especially in the sale of industrial land.

“We are very happy to welcome BYD to Subang Smartpolitan. “BYD’s presence in Subang Smartpolitan is clear evidence of the attractiveness of our area as a leading industrial center, especially in the automotive sector,” said VP Sales, Marketing & Tenant Relations of Subang Smartpolitan Abednego Purnomo in his statement last week.

BYD’s large investment in Subang Smartpolitan is predicted to be a catalyst for significant economic growth in Indonesia. This EV factory will not only create thousands of new jobs, but also increase the transfer of technology and expertise in the field of EV manufacturing.

Abednego said that he was optimistic that BYD’s presence would attract further investment to Indonesia and open the gates for more global companies to set up their manufacturing bases in the region.

He said that currently Subang Smartpolitan is handling many inquiries from the EV industry and most of them come from China.
