BYD introduced three electric vehicles in Pakistan

The general manager of the company’s Asia-Pacific auto sales division, Liu Zhuliang, said during the event that the C-Line 6 vehicle can cover a distance of 1,100 kilometers on a single charge, which means that Lahore to Karachi can easily be reached on a single charge.

He said that initially this car will be available in three big cities Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad while it will have 20 to 25 dealers.

He further said: ‘Our entry into the Pakistani market is not limited to providing customers with modern vehicles, but our vision is to advance a broader vision of environmental responsibility and technological innovation. We are confident that our new energy vehicles will play an important role in creating a clean and prosperous future for both Pakistan and the world.

BYD has not only introduced these vehicles in Pakistan in partnership with Mega Motors, a company affiliated with the country’s largest utility Power Hub Company Limited (HABCO), but also in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad in the coming days. It has also indicated to set up modern flagship stores and experience centers.

Speaking on the occasion, Habco’s Chief Executive Officer Kamran Kamal said that in this historic investment, his company is going to set up Pakistan’s first NEV assembly plant, which will be a hub for manufacturing BYD’s new energy vehicles. CKD is the facility and the plant will start operations in 2026.

Kamran Kamal further said that to increase the charging infrastructure of Pakistan, fast charging stations will be established in major cities, motorways and highways.

Former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb also participated in the ceremony.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi sat in the newly launched car and told Independent Urdu: ‘The car is comfortable and if this car is comfortable for me then everyone else will like it.’

In a conversation with Independent Urdu, Sunil Manj of Pak Wales said that it has become a fashion to talk about electric vehicles not only in Pakistan but in the whole world, but so far the biggest problem in Pakistan regarding these vehicles is this. You have a car but no charging network.’

He said that Habco is also building a charging network, which will make it easier for people to accept the vehicle.
