The Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG) and a musical? How can you imagine that? The whole spectacle might be seen yesterday at the premiere in the sold-out Admiralspalast. There was a live stream for everyone who didn’t receive tickets. We’ve known that the BVG has a sense of humor since the ‘I don’t care’ video with Kazim Akboga a few years ago. But a musical that is new and perhaps even unique. The “Tarifzone Liebe” was developed by the BVG marketing team in collaboration with the creative agency Jung von Matt Hamburg.
BVG Musical – Love tariff zone
The history? A love story of Tramara, the lovable tram, in search of Alexander, her loyal passenger, accompanied by her companions, the subway “U-Laf” and the public bus “Bus-Tav”. The musical reflected the diversity of Berlin’s local transport: from delays to humorous interludes regarding “delays in operations”. The audience was made to smile with puns. The nine specially composed and written songs formed the heart of this special performance. Of course, clichés like the Berlin snout and dialect shouldn’t be missing here and there. With this, the BVG shows that it can also laugh at itself with self-irony. Overall, a successful stage design and a fun idea to continue the “Because we love you” campaign.
The approximately 2,600 tickets for the only two performances on Monday and Tuesday were completely sold out within 24 hours. You can find all songs here.
