BVB: “He has to respect” – Edin Terzic talks about Marco Reus’ situation

Marco Reus and Mats Hummels played no role in Borussia Dortmund’s 1-0 win over Chelsea in the Champions League. Edin Terzic has at DAZN explains the situation of the two veterans a little.

“Of course I’m brutally sorry,” said Terzic sympathetically following the first leg win over the Blues. Reus and Hummels were neither in the starting XI nor were they substituted on during the game. “I think he has to respect it, but not accept it,” he added in the direction of Reus. He was mainly referring to the fact that the captain can now show in the upcoming training sessions and games that he can convert the coach’s decision into positive energy.

While Terzic was speaking, Hummels was sprinting across the lawn in the background. The substitute players who are not used usually complete a small unit on the pitch. “Turn around and see how he works,” the trainer was proud of the 2014 world champion: “He doesn’t feel like it either.” But both Reus and Hummels would have the necessary attitude and would accept the current situation well.

Terzic was a little less satisfied with the game once morest Chelsea. “The best thing is probably today’s result,” he admitted. The 40-year-old thought that “there was a bit of luck in the end”, but also emphasized Gregor Kobel’s excellent performance. The BVB keeper had thwarted several great chances from Chelsea and thus retained the victory.

The blues would have been “very dominant” at the end. “We made it too easy for them to get into the last third,” Terzic analyzed: “We conquered the balls well at times, but gave them away too quickly.”

At the beginning of March, BVB travel to Stamford Bridge with a 1-0 lead. In the last four rounds of 16 participation, Borussia Dortmund has only reached the quarter-finals once.
