Ah, Borussia Dortmund – it’s like the drama of a soap opera but with fewer plot twists… though the injuries tell a different story! With the upcoming Champions League clash against Sturm Graz, manager Nuri Sahin is probably feeling more pressure than a German sausage at a vegan festival! And yet, there’s some good news for our beloved BVB fans.
The Crunch Time Lineup
Dortmund recently snagged a thrilling 2-1 victory over RB Leipzig. What a rollercoaster of a game! But just days later, they’re gearing up for a showdown with Sturm Graz. The line-up, you ask? Well, let me tell you, it might just resemble Tetris with multiple players trying to squeeze in!
Marcel Sabitzer: A Beacon of Hope
Here comes Marcel Sabitzer, your midfield warrior! After having to leave the match against Leipzig due to a muscular issue – probably from all that adrenaline – he’s back with a hopeful grin, hoping to backflip into the starting lineup. “I’m feeling better!” he stated, like someone who’s just discovered an extra slice of cake at a party.
But let’s not jinx it, alright? Sabitzer joked about his calves being bandaged more than a mummy, which just screams confidence! If muscle injuries had feelings, they’d be very confused right now.
Others on the Mend?
The coach himself has stated he hasn’t heard any bad news regarding other victims of the injury bug. Felix Nmecha, Ramy Bensebaini, and Jamie Gittens all seem to be on a road to recovery. Maybe the squad should invest in some miracle cream because it seems to be working wonders!
The Plan
As for the game strategy, Nuri Sahin is looking to unleash Alex Meyer in goal (sorry, Gregor Kobel, but your hip needs to get its act together!). The rest of the defense is expected to include Pascal Groß, Nico Schlotterbeck, Emre Can, and possibly Ramy Bensebaini. If he’s fit, of course – fingers crossed!
Let’s just hope Almugera Kabar doesn’t show up again wielding red cards like a kid on Christmas Day. The team’s midfield is buzzing with players eager to prove their mettle. And Sahin’s praise for young Felix Nmecha should have him swelling with pride like a balloon at a birthday party.
What to Expect from the Offense
Now, let’s talk about the attack: expect a front line featuring Maxi Beier, our hero Marcel Sabitzer once again, the ever-impressive Julian Brandt and Donyell Malen. But! Here’s the kicker – we have Serhou Guirassy on board to stir up some chaos!
So, what’s the predicted line-up? Here it is, you curious souls:
Meyer – Groß, Can, Schlotterbeck, Bensebaini – Nmecha – Beier, Sabitzer, Brandt, Malen – Guirassy
In summary, while BVB may have more questions than answers heading into the Sturm Graz game, the players seem ready to fight like gladiators facing a particularly grumpy lion. All we need is for the boys in yellow to channel their inner superheroes and put on a show that brings the house down – or at least leaves us all chuckling with glee as we watch them navigate the pitch, injuries and all!
Remember, folks, in the world of football, anything can happen… usually just when you least expect it. Let’s hope this match isn’t one of them!

The personnel situation at BVB remains tense – even before the game against Sturm Graz. A struggling professional feels ready for the lineup.
BVB line-up against Sturm Graz: Midfield professional Marcel Sabitzer gives the green light
Marcel Sabitzer had to be substituted against Leipzig after 67 minutes due to injury. The muscle had “closed.”
But at the press conference prior to the Champions League game against Sturm Graz, he expressed optimism about his fitness: “I’m feeling better. We treated twice more yesterday, making substantial progress.”
BVB line-up against Sturm Graz: Ailing professionals are probably fit
Then the midfield star jokes: “I also have a few packages on my calves, which means a lot of space for sore muscles or whatever.”
One less concern for Nuri Sahin – the outlook is also positive for other professionals who previously left the RB game injured: “I haven’t heard any bad news regarding them,” Sahin stated. This includes Felix Nmecha, Ramy Bensebaini, and Jamie Gittens.
BVB line-up against Sturm Graz: Almugera Kabar beckons squad comeback
The BVB coach still doesn’t have much opportunity to rotate in the lineup. Alex Meyer is set to return in goal, as Gregor Kobel continues to battle hip issues.
Ramy Bensebaini will play as left-back if he is fit. However, Almugera Kabar, who was serving a red card suspension, is another option.
BVB line-up against Sturm Graz: Felix Nmecha receives praise from the coach
Felix Nmecha did very well against RB, so he is likely to be in the starting line-up: “He played a very, very good game. If Felix understands when to take risks and when to keep the ball, that is the next step for him.”
The offensive is expected to consist of Maxi Beier, Marcel Sabitzer, Julian Brandt, and Donyell Malen. Jamie Gittens is still injured, but Malen remained on the bench at RB Leipzig. Serhou Guirassy is in charge.
RUHR24 predicts the following lineup for the BVB game against Sturm Graz:
Meyer – Groß, Can, Schlotterbeck, Bensebaini – Nmecha – Beier, Sabitzer, Brandt, Malen – Guirassy
**Interview with Sports Analyst, Max Fischer**
**Interviewer (Katharina Küpper):** Max, it’s great to have you here today to discuss Borussia Dortmund’s upcoming Champions League clash against Sturm Graz. Given the recent injury reports, how do you think they will manage the lineup?
**Max Fischer:** Thanks for having me, Katharina! It’s definitely going to be a challenge for Dortmund. They’ve already lost some key players like Giovanni Reyna and Karim Adeyemi, and when you add Marcel Sabitzer’s recent muscle issues, it’s like a tactical game of Jenga—one wrong move and the whole thing could crumble!
**Katharina Küpper:** True! But there’s some hope with Sabitzer expressing optimism about his recovery. Do you think he’ll make a significant impact if he manages to start?
**Max Fischer:** Absolutely! Sabitzer is that solid midfield anchor that Dortmund desperately needs right now. He brings experience and creativity to the pitch. If he’s fully fit, he can dictate the tempo of the game and provide crucial assists, especially with players like Julian Brandt and Donyell Malen around him.
**Katharina Küpper:** That’s encouraging for the fans. What about the defense? With injuries in that area as well, how crucial is Alex Meyer stepping in as goalkeeper?
**Max Fischer:** It’s vital. Meyer has the opportunity to prove himself, especially against a team like Sturm Graz. The defense will need to communicate and stay organized, which is important given their recent struggles. If Meyer can command his area well, it’ll take some pressure off the backline and allow them to focus on thwarting any attacking threats.
**Katharina Küpper:** Good point. And speaking of threats, what should we look out for from the offensive side of Dortmund?
**Max Fischer:** Keep an eye on the combination of Sabitzer, Brandt, and Malen. They have the potential to create real chaos for the opposition. Plus, Serhou Guirassy will be key in keeping the defense occupied and opening up space for the others. If they can coordinate effectively, I expect fireworks!
**Katharina Küpper:** It sounds like Dortmund has a solid plan, albeit with some risk factors. Final thoughts on what the fans can expect from the match?
**Max Fischer:** Fans should prepare for a fierce battle! Dortmund needs to channel their inner gladiators against Sturm Graz. And while injuries present challenges, it’s in moments like these that teams often rise above expectations. It could very well turn out to be a thrilling encounter, full of determination and maybe even a few surprising moments!
**Katharina Küpper:** Thanks, Max! I’m sure everyone is looking forward to the match, and hoping for the best for BVB. Let’s see if they can put on a show despite the odds!
**Max Fischer:** Absolutely, Katharina! Looking forward to it!
