BVB got off to a weak start to the season. With regard to Edin Terzic, TV expert Stefan Effenberg now has much warmer words than before.

Of all people, Julian Nagelsmann, who is considered the favorite to succeed Flick in the national team, brought the “Terrier” into play at BVB. Now, however, Effenberg is supporting the BVB coach.

Stefan Effenberg has always been a friend of clear words. With a view to BVB’s start to the season, the controversial Bayern legend didn’t mince his words, as usual.
“You want to be a candidate for the title and you have an opening program with Cologne, Bochum and Heidenheim – you simply have to get nine points,” wrote the ex-professional in his column t-online about BVB’s weak start to the season.

Once he started, he also sharply criticized Hans-Joachim Watzke’s job guarantee for Edin Terzic, who currently has several problem children in the squad. After all, there has “never been a job guarantee – especially not in Dortmund”.
Effenberg also made it clear with a view to the future of the BVB coach. “Depending on developments, it may be that at some point the name Julian Nagelsmann will be pronounced louder in Dortmund.”
The 35-time German national player apparently did not have much confidence in the skills of the BVB coach, who had to “deliver now”. BVB boss Hans Joachim Watzke, when asked about a possible Nagelsmann commitment to BVB, took flight, but was unnerved.

In his most recent column, Effenberg expressed himself a little more favorably about Edin Terzic’s future in Dortmund. After all, the BVB coach is not “on his own”. When Terzic took over BVB for the first time at the end of 2020, the club was also “in an extremely difficult phase in terms of sport”.
At the end of the 2020/21 season we won the DFB Cup and qualified for the Champions League, recalls Effenberg. Terzic has “proved that he can do it. Sure, he narrowly missed out on the championship last season and hasn’t started the new Bundesliga season well either.”

But Effenberg believes the BVB coach will also survive this difficult phase. Edin Terzic is still young and can learn from mistakes. “I am totally convinced by Terzic in combination with BVB. He will calm down again and get the curve,” writes Effenberg in conclusion. Warm words that every BVB fan is currently only too happy to hear.
