Samsung is releasing a new tablet following a year and a half. Attention is focusing on how well it will perform in the world of iPad. Apple is the absolute leader in the tablet market. Its dominance in the tablet market is stronger than that of the smartphone iPhone, to the extent that people say, “Who buys the iPad, who buys Samsung?”

Samsung Electronics’ new tablet ‘Galaxy Tab S9 series’, which is regarding to be released, has finally been unveiled.

Foreign IT tipsters (leakers) have released leaked images of the Galaxy Tab S9. The display size is 12.4 inches, the same as the previous one, and the resolution is expected to be 1752 × 2800. There are two rear cameras installed. It is a water drop design similar to the Galaxy S23 series.

Above all, to catch up with the iPad, the world’s first waterproof and dustproof function was applied. Even Apple’s iPad, which dominates the tablet market, has never had a waterproof function applied. Samsung is the first case. Experts are also responding with “interesting” and “unusual”.

Samsung applied waterproof and dustproof function of IP67 level. This means complete dustproofing and the ability to support waterproofing for 30 minutes in water at a depth of 15cm to 1m.

Above all, it is said that the second-generation Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 chip, which boasts the best performance, is installed in the ‘brain’ that determines the performance of the tablet. It remains to be seen whether it will perform as well as the iPad.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab is struggling quite a bit behind the Apple iPad. The market is also stagnant. Following LG Electronics, Samsung Electronics also has a negligible presence to the extent that rumors regarding the withdrawal of tablets appear.

According to the US market analysis agency IDC, Apple shipped 61.8 million tablets in 2022. This is a 7% increase over the previous year. Its market share was 38%, up 3.7 percentage points from the previous year.

On the other hand, Samsung’s tablet shipments were 30.3 million units, down 0.8% from 2021. Its market share is 18.6%. IDC explained, “Apple has maintained its clear lead in the tablet field despite the challenges of latecomers.”
