Busting the Meta Myths: The Truth About Paid Subscriptions and Personal Data in 2023

2023-11-11 13:22:33

It is a real “chestnut tree” which returns in waves from year to year, but which grows particularly well in this autumn of 2023 when Meta asks you to choose between a paid subscription or an agreement to access your data: the message to copy and paste on your wall, which supposedly protects our personal photos.

The very last variant, which builds on this news, to say “OK for the data, but no question of using my personal photos”, is meeting with some success.

But like all its previous variants, it has no basis or legal value.

Likewise no lawyer only recommended this copy and paste in a so called broadcast “60 minutes”, and supreme trap, there is no deadline to publish one “Today”. Today is like the sign “Tomorrow, we shave for free”: as the notice is copied and pasted from day to day, each time it refers to another date.

The “blue status” does not exist on Facebook, only on X (Twitter): the icon displayed in messages is a simple emoji.

Finally, neither Facebook nor Meta have become “public entities”: these are more than ever commercial enterprises. May this viralization of unfounded rumors be good.
