Businesswomen gathered around sustainable food – La Discusión 2024-04-26 12:43:18

Nearly 70 people from different communities in the region participated in a seminar on Sustainable Food, whose objective was to highlight the importance of promoting agroecological practices and greater involvement of consumers in food production processes.

The activity was organized by the company Deaki and took place in the Inia Quilamapu auditorium in Chillán, within the framework of a Social Innovation project co-financed by Corfo, which seeks to implement a collaborative commercial model, with local producers, to market fruits, vegetables , vegetables and processed foods from Ñuble, produced without the use of chemicals and respecting organic farming production protocols, as well as transferring knowledge to the communities of these techniques and the attributes of this type of food.

“Today’s life is characterized by being increasingly accelerated and global, where healthy practices that were linked to the family and traditional rural life have been lost,” explained Oriana Burgos, leader of the company and the project.

The regional director of Corfo, Macarena Dávila, highlighted the initiative and valued that the project addresses and proposes a new model that responds to a problem that has not been sufficiently visible in our society. “Through this social innovation project, a proposal is generated that addresses a problem that affects the health of people and the environment, which has to do with production techniques and the use of pesticides, herbicides and chemical fertilizers in the food”.

The seminar included the participation of prominent exponents such as Agustín Infante, from CET Bío Bío, who referred to the evolution of agroecology and the beneficial effects of its practices; Denis Herrera, nutritionist, who explained the advantages of eating foods not treated with chemicals; and Oriana Burgos and Jazmín Palma, both executive directors of Deaki, who explained the scope of the project.
