Donor agencies contributed Rs 557.79 billion and Sindh government provided Rs 18.25 billion on its own behalf.
He said that the construction of flood victims’ houses is a project of 500 million dollars, the Sindh government issued its shares of 25 billion rupees, but the federal government did not provide the funds. Similarly, the school construction project is worth Rs 11917 million, the federal government promised Rs 2 billion but the funds are yet to be released. In the last 4 years, Sindh has been neglected by the federation regarding new schemes.
The Chief Minister said that in 2022-23, the federal government has given 21 new projects worth Rs 51 billion to Punjab and schemes worth Rs 5.4 billion to Sindh, while 9 projects worth Rs 68 billion have been given to KPK. Thus, in the years 2020-21 and 2021-22, Sindh was given less schemes than other provinces.
He said that currently 19 schemes worth 144.743 billion rupees are ongoing in Sindh and the federal government has allocated 53.124 billion rupees for these schemes, but only 12 billion rupees have been spent, out of 19 schemes, not even a single rupee has been spent on 11 schemes. Projects in Sindh CDWP and ACNIC have been pending for approval for a long time, approval of K4 augmentation is pending in CDWP from 2022 while School Rehabilitation Project, Click Project, Sindh Barrage Project, Solid Waste Project are also pending with the federal government for approval.
On this occasion, Sindh Chief Minister requested Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal to speed up the approval process. He said that the Sindh government has given 7 billion rupees to NHA for the construction of Indus Highway in 2017, but since 2017, the Sahivan Jamshoro road has not been completed yet.
