Business leaders from the state of Bolívar held a meeting this Wednesday, March 1, with Governor Ángel Marcano and with the mayor of the Caroní municipality, Tito Oviedo, in order to address the issue of providing urban sanitation services in Ciudad Guayana.

Through a press release from Camcaroní, it was reported that the group of trade unionists was: the president of Fedecámaras Bolívar, Austerio González; the president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industries of the Caroní municipality, Catherine Wilson and the president of the Chamber of Liquors of the Bolívar state, Franklin Fernández.

There it was established that on March 9 the Mixed Commission will be installed to discuss the charge for the collection of solid waste. The intention is to find an “equitable solution” to urban cleaning and sanitary landfill fees.

In addition, other issues were addressed, such as the supply of fuel and the state of the basic companies.

This meeting with the authorities also made it possible for the private company that provides the urban sanitation service to commit to stopping any embargo action for the next 30 days, as well as to ratify the special discounts with the commercial, metal-mechanic, education, tourism, clinics and schools.

The business union of the Caroní municipality “advocates that these dialogue tables serve to reach agreements that benefit the municipality and in turn allow the economic development of businessmen, merchants and Guyanese in general.”
